On 20 June 2011, by a letter from the Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations and the Minister of Māori Affairs, the Crown recognised the Treaty negotiation mandate of John McEnteer and the late Liane Ngamane on behalf of Ngāti Tamtaerā

 We would like to acknowledge Liane Ngamane who was a dedicated and formidable negotiator for Ngāti Tamaterā, whose tireless efforts and unwavering commitment were pivotal in advancing our Treaty settlement journey. Her leadership, integrity, and deep love for our iwi guided her work, ensuring that the mana and aspirations of Ngāti Tamaterā were upheld throughout the process. Liane’s legacy as a staunch advocate for justice and equity will forever be remembered and honoured by our people.
