Ngāti Tamaterā Settlement


The Ngāti Tamaterā Treaty Settlement represents a significant milestone for the iwi, marking the culmination of years of negotiation and advocacy to address historical grievances with the Crown. Through the Treaty Settlement, Ngāti Tamaterā reaffirms their mana and tino rangatiratanga, ensuring that their legacy as kaitiaki of their rohe is honoured and preserved.

Marutūahu Collective


The Marutūahu Collective Settlement is another significant step towards healing past wounds and forging a more equitable future for Māori in New Zealand. This settlement encompasses multiple Māori iwi (tribes) within the Marutūahu confederation, addressing their historical grievances and charting a path forward based on mutual respect and partnership. The confederation includes Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Paoa, Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Whaanaunga and Te Patukirikiri.

Pouarua Farm


Pouarua Farm, located on the Hauraki Plains 35km southeast of the Bombay Hills, is the largest dairy platform in the region, spanning 2,200 hectares. Comprising nine dairy units and one dry stock unit, the farm is jointly owned by five iwi: Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Paoa, Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Tara Tokanui, and Te Patukirikiri. The land, a taonga asset, was returned to the iwi in 2013 through a significant Treaty settlement and is managed with a long-term vision to ensure its sustainability for future generations. Under iwi governance, Pouarua Farms is committed to maintaining the productivity of the land, focusing on intergenerational well-being and the cultural, economic, and environmental legacy of the region.

Pare Hauraki Collective


The Pare Hauraki Treaty Settlement represents a crucial milestone in New Zealand's Treaty Settlement Process. It addresses the historical grievances of the Hauraki Māori tribes, who have long sought recognition and restitution for past injustices.


The 12 iwi of Hauraki include Ngāti Hako, Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, Ngāti Hei, Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Paoa, Ngāti Porou ki Hauraki, Ngāti Pūkenga, Ngāti Rāhiri Tumutumu, Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Tara Tokanui, Ngāti Whanaunga and Te Patukirikiri.

Tāmaki Collective


The Tāmaki Collective Settlement is a landmark agreement between the Crown and the Māori tribes of Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and surrounding areas. This settlement recognises and addresses the historical grievances of these tribes, laying the foundation for a renewed partnership based on mutual trust and understanding. The Tāmaki Collective iwi include Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Paoa, Ngāti Tamaoho, Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Te Ata, Ngāti Whaanaunga, Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, Ngāti Whātua Orakei, Te Ākitai Waiohua, Te Kawerau a Maki, Te Patukirikiri, Te Runanga o Ngāti Whātua.

The Treaty of Waitangi, signed in 1840 between the indigenous Māori tribes and the British Crown, forms the cornerstone of New Zealand's modern legal and political landscape.

 However, for much of the nations history, the Treaty's promises were not fully realised, leading to significant grievances among Māori communities.
